OFCU Exceeds Goal: 285 Letters for Operation Gratitude

In its second year, Omaha Federal Credit Union gathered and mailed 285 custom letters to Operation Gratitude for its annual holiday campaign: Holiday Letters for Care Packages for First Responders, Active Military and Veterans across the globe. OFCU’s goal for this year was 250 letters, but we surpassed that by 35 letters! Many OFCU employees and their families wrote and colored letters; Blair Radio folks provided 20 cards/letters; Sunset Hills Elementary (Omaha-Westside) (6th graders) wrote 12 e-letters via OFCU’s e-link; Prairie Lane Elementary (Omaha-Westside) (2nd graders) wrote 23 hard copy letters, and the Carter Lake Boys and Girls Club (Carter Lake, IA) wrote 33 letters, among many others.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated for your generous time of writing heart-felt letters. We’re also grateful to Operation Gratitude for partnering with us again this year, as they said, “Your kindness and generosity make the holidays brighter for troops deployed far from home.”

One note of thanks came from SGT J.G. based in Iraq who received a care package this year. He enjoyed the contents and also read all the comments and letters, relaying in an email, “The timing was great and the emotional boost it gave me was incredible. Thanks for washing away those unwanted feelings of deployed holiday blues. Everybody in my six-man team was blessed by your organization’s generosity and show of support. It makes us proud knowing that we are serving a grateful nation with people who are willing to sacrifice their time and resources for us. I now know what a huge impact it has on the morale of the recipients.”
