Send — you can send money directly to your recipient’s bank account, typically within minutes*.

Request** — you can send a request for money. The person who receives the request will be able to accept or decline – if they accept, your customer will typically receive the money in minutes*.

Split** — if you need to split the cost of a bill or share a cost with multiple people, you can use split to calculate how much everyone owes and then send a request for money to each person*.

MEMBER BENEFITS You can receive money fast, typically within minutes*. When you receive money with Zelle® and are already enrolled, the money goes directly into your bank account and is available for use in minutes.

You can send money to friends, family and others you trust. Your recipient must have a bank account in the U.S.

You can request money from others**, which makes it easy to collect money for things like group gifts or shared meals.

You do not need to download another app. You can use Zelle® to send money within the OFCU mobile app and/or online banking experience.

You can avoid sharing sensitive account information with friends and family — all you need to share is your U.S. mobile phone number or email address.

You can have peace of mind using an app you already know and trust.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION How does Zelle® work?

When you enroll with Zelle®, your name, the name of your bank or credit union and the email address or U.S. mobile number you used to enroll is shared with Zelle® (no sensitive account details – those stay with OFCU). When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile number, Zelle® looks up the email address or mobile number in its “directory” and notifies OFCU of the incoming payment. OFCU then directs the payment into your account, all while keeping your sensitive account details private.

Who can I send money to with Zelle®?

Zelle® allows you to send money to friends, family and others you trust* even if they have a different bank or credit union. You can send money directly from your OFCU mobile app and/or online banking. Since money is sent directly from your OFCU account to another person’s bank account within minutes*, it’s important to only send money to people you trust, and always ensure you’ve used the correct email address or U.S. mobile number.

Neither OFCU nor Zelle® offers a protection program for any authorized payments made with Zelle® – for example, if you do not receive the item you paid for or the item is not as described or as you expected.

Are there any fees to send money using Zelle®?

OFCU does not charge any fees* to use Zelle® with your personal checking account.

How do I enroll with Zelle®?

Enroll with Zelle® in the OFCU mobile banking app. Open your app, select “Send Money with Zelle®” and simply follow the steps as prompted to enroll.

How do I send money?

To send money using Zelle®, simply select your recipient from your mobile device’s contacts (or add your trusted recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile phone number), add the amount you’d like to send, review, then hit “confirm.” In most cases, the money is available in minutes*.

  How do I receive money?

To receive money, just share your email address or U.S. mobile phone number with a friend and ask them to send you money with Zelle®. You’ll receive a payment notification once the money has been sent. If you’ve already enrolled your email address or U.S. mobile phone number, then you won’t need to take any further action and the money will go directly into your OFCU account.

How long does it take to receive money with Zelle®?

Money sent with Zelle® is typically available to an enrolled recipient within minutes, so it’s important you trust the person you’re sending it to.

If you send money to someone who isn’t enrolled with Zelle®, they will receive a notification prompting them to enroll with Zelle®. After enrollment, the money will move directly into your recipient’s account, typically within minutes*.

If your payment is still pending, we recommend confirming that the person you sent money to has enrolled with Zelle® and that you entered the correct email address or U.S. mobile number.

If you’re waiting to receive money, you should first check to see if you received a payment notification via email or text message, if you haven’t received a payment notification, then follow-up with the sender. Double check the email address or U.S. mobile number where you received the payment notification is the one you enrolled in Zelle® with.

Is sending money with your mobile phone safe?

Zelle® within the OFCU mobile app features all the same security standards you’ve come to expect from OFCU, while allowing you the convenience of sending money from your phone.

With Zelle®, you can send or receive money without revealing your sensitive financial account information to other people.

Zelle® can minimize many of the worries you may have when carrying cash, writing checks or receiving checks. The financial institution provides electronic notification to enrolled customers of a payment and eliminates the possibility of your check getting lost or stolen in the mail.

What should Zelle® be used for?

Zelle® is a great way to send money to family, friends, and others you trust such as your personal trainer, babysitter or a neighbor*.

If you don’t know the person, or aren’t sure you will get what you paid for (for example, items bought from an online bidding or sales site), we recommend you do not use Zelle® for those types of transactions. Those transactions are potentially high risk (just like sending cash to a person you don’t know is high risk).
