A special THANK YOU to all who donated new and gently used shoes for the Stephen Center during this year’s Day Without Shoes community service campaign! Leading Sponsor Cornhusker Bank and its more than 50 partners (including OFCU!) gathered more than 6,000 shoes for those in need. Since its inception, members of Lincoln, Omaha and the surrounding communities have collected 416,000 pairs of shoes and monetary donations totaling more than $136,000! We greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness and support! ❤️❤️
A Day Without Shoes raises awareness about how shoes can affect a child’s or adult’s life. For some people, shoes are not a big deal, just another basic item that one can always afford. But, for other people, shoes can be a luxury — something they can hardly afford. Millions of children and adults here in the U.S. and around the globe oftentimes are not fortunate enough to have shoes to protect their feet. A Day Without Shoes is for us to join the experience of going through the day shoeless.
Held annually, this campaign encourages the community to get involved in something bigger than themselves — all in an effort to help struggling people get a pair of shoes.
